A Heart to Heart Visit from First Frozen Egg Baby

Friday, February 14th, 2014

ivfbaby-barbara-cadyn-drdiazToday Barbara and Cadyn dropped by for a visit from Seattle just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Cadyn was conceived on Valentine’s day 8 and 1/2 years ago and she remains special in our hearts because she was the first frozen egg baby born at our Center in 2005. Cadyn is now a beautiful and delightful little lady who loves traveling with her Mom and visiting Dr. Diaz’s Fertility Practice in Orange County, California.

When Barbara decided it was time to start her family, she had heard about West Coast Fertility Center where Dr. David Diaz and his Team of professionals had perfected the art of egg freezing to help women achieve their dream of having a baby. After years of research performed under IRB supervision, the clinic began accepting patients for treatment using their egg freezing protocol. The team’s goal was to document the rate of frozen egg survival and the pregnancy rate using frozen eggs. As more and more pregnancies evolved, the Center tracked the health of the babies born from frozen eggs and reported that there was no increase in any birth defects in the children.

Barbara was a true pioneer when she delivered her beautiful baby girl named Cadyn. After her birth, she was carefully monitored at Children’s Hospital and was found to be in excellent health. Mother and child kept in touch with Dr. Diaz throughout the years. In 2011, Barbara and Cadyn were joined by dozens of children and their families when the clinic hosted the World’s First Reunion of Babies Born from Frozen Eggs.

Since those early days, West Coast Fertility has celebrated the births of over 80 children born from their technique of egg freezing. Please contact us for more information on how egg freezing and donor frozen eggs can benefit you. 714-513-1399

“Baby Insurance” with Egg Freezing

Monday, May 27th, 2013

In early May 2013, the Wall Street Journal featured an article about Egg Freezing written by Sarah Elizabeth Richards. She referred to egg freezing as “baby insurance”. Why I Froze My Eggs (And You Should, Too)

Read Sarah’s story about how she froze her eggs on her 36th birthday and had her first baby at age 42.

sarah-elizabeth-richards-egg-freezing“When a woman freezes her eggs, two things happen: She comes to terms with the fact that her fertility is fading, and she invests significant time, energy and money in protecting that asset by seeking medical help. The combination puts the issue front and center and makes you commit to your goals,” states Richards.

“The act of egg freezing also has the effect of making women feel more in control of their dating lives. Far from encouraging women to wait, I found that egg freezing made it easier for women to relax and find a partner.” -excerpt from WSJ article

Happy Thoughts and Reflections from Our Wonderful Patients

Friday, September 16th, 2011

“Thank you so much for the picture.  We will be 27 weeks tomorrow and we are having a girl!  We could never begin to thank all of you for everything that you have done for our family.  Kevin and I are amazed everyday that we have James and now a little girl on the way.

The care that was given to me by Dr. Diaz, Joan, Maritza, Beth, you and the entire staff was beyond anything we could have ever hoped for.  I will never forget the day that Dr. Diaz sat us down to discuss our options after all of the tests and x-rays. I was terrified that I would never be able to have children. As we sat at the table in his office and Dr. Diaz explained what the options were for us, he never rushed us, he listened to us, and he understood our fears.

It was then that I truly knew we chose the right doctor.  I believed with all my heart that when he said he would do all that he could to make our dreams of having a family come true that he would. Lucky for us that we found all of you with your medical expertise. We are still overwhelmed – IVF worked twice for us!!  We are truly blessed.

We look forward to introducing all of you to our new addition in December.”

With many thanks in our hearts,

Shea and Kevin N.

“We are so happy for your family. You make our job so extremely rewarding!”

What a heart-warming and delightful afternoon we all had with a surprise visit from the Poteat triplets. The triplets were accompanied by their adorable older sister.

Plenty of pictures were taken of this precious occasion. Joan, our nurse practitioner, took the triplets to the back office and showed them their family picture hung on our wall.

Twin Girls Welcomed in a Household Full of Boys

Friday, June 17th, 2011

An ultrasound confirmed that our patient, Ana , is pregnant with twin girls. This is such exciting news because Ana and her husband already have 3 boys at home. They desperately wanted girls to “balance out” the family.

Joan (Registered Nurse Practitioner) and Ana holding ultrasound of twin girls

Due to an accident years back, Ana and her husband were not able to get pregnant naturally. They sought help from Dr. David Diaz at West Coast Fertility Centers and through IVF, they had twin boys. Spontaneously, Ana was pregnant with another boy and thought her fate was mothering a brood of only boys.

As time elapsed and the boys are a little older, Ana and her husband visited Dr. Diaz again because they wanted to have a daughter. Through the process of Gender Selection performed at West Coast Fertility’s accredited laboratories, an embryo biopsy technique called PGD can determine the “XX” (female) or “XY” (male) gender of any embryo with 99% certainty.

PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) is also very useful for diagnosing embryos that carry chromosomal abnormalities such as Down Syndrome or sex-linked genetic diseases.

Congratulations to Ana and her family! We all look forward to meeting your twin girls.

Surrogacy at West Coast Fertility Centers

Read the testimonial of a daughter who was the surrogate for her mother…

I was a surrogate for my parents. My overall experience with Dr. Diaz and staff was a pleasant one. They did all they could to make this process as easy and comfortable for me. I have never done this before and I have to admit I was extremely scared, but for my parents, I would have done this 100 times.

What helped me be at ease was the personable service and the way I was treated while undergoing the procedures and visits. I would and have highly recommended Dr. Diaz for IVF treatments and without the help of Dr. Diaz and staff, there would no greater gift than my little brother. Thank you all again!”    ~Vanessa G.
